“What? My child cannot get wraparound services,” exclaims a frustrated parent whose son is struggling with bi-polar disorder, and truancy. Our Pathway to Services bi-lingual case manager, Patty Brown, then explains the process to access services , and many are surprised at what Patty can piece together right here in the community, right there on the phone. With limited funding and slots available, wraparound services through the county or state program may not be immediately available for children who qualify. But, Patty with her four years experience working with children with intensive needs and the network of providers who serve them, will do everything she can to connect families to services in order to maintain their children successfully in their home, school and community.
Sometimes it is piecing together a plan that provides limited services until an opening in wraparound becomes available. Sometimes it is connecting the family to the right therapy or healthcare provider. Sometimes it is connecting a child to an out-of-school time program right in their neighborhood. Sometimes it is a combination of these strategies. And, sometimes it is as simple as exploring what is available through infomontgomery.org, our database of services and programs. Patty is dedicated to helping the children and families she serves five days a week, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. She is waiting by the phone to connect you and your family to the services necessary for your child to be healthy and successful in life! Please give her a call at 301-354-4905.
